| Today, Linksys updated their official web site to reflect that the fifth version of the WRT54G has been released. Version 4s are still fairly new and some would wonder why they are releasing a new version so quickly. Version 5 requires completely new firmware (1.0.0) so it would appear the hardware differences are not minor. We would not recommend flashing new firmware to a version five as current firmware releases would likely cause damage. There is currently no way to tell the difference between a version five and other models but if Linksys continues their serial number scheme, version five should be CDFB. |
